Golden Visa Affirms Indonesia's Strategic Position

JAKARTA, NusaBali.com - Law and Human Rights Minister Yasonna Laoly stated that President Joko Widodo's recently launched Golden Visa policy helps Indonesia solidify its strategic position in the eyes of the international community.

"Through the golden visa policy, Indonesia affirms its strategic position and welcomes global figures, international investors, world talents, and Indonesian diaspora to come and contribute to the development of the country," he remarked during the policy's launch here on Thursday (25/7/2024).

Laoly described the Golden Visa as an adaptive and responsive policy formulated by his ministry's Director General of Immigration with the objective of providing a higher level of convenience to foreigners keen on residing in Indonesia.

"The implementation of the policy brings new hope for business actors and investors to acquire comfort and certainty when investing," he stated, adding that golden visas are targeted only at good-quality travelers.

The minister also expressed optimism about the visa facility bringing the nation closer to achieving the Golden Indonesia 2045 vision.

He then highlighted that Indonesia stands as a country blessed with enormous potential, including abundant natural resources, cultural diversity, strategic geographic location, positive economic growth rate, and a population dominated by young people.

Moreover, he affirmed that Indonesia has a growing tourism industry, a promising market, and the capacity to develop new and renewable energy.

"All those factors can attract foreigners to explore Indonesia's potential and the opportunities the country has to offer," he remarked.

On the same occasion, President Widodo underscored the need to disseminate information on the policy on a massive scale so that it can reach high-quality global investors and talents.

He also demanded that the visa facility only be granted to promising figures through stringent assessment processes.

"We cannot afford to grant the facility to people that can pose threats to our national security or those not bringing any benefits to the nation," he stressed.

During the launch ceremony, the president symbolically handed over a golden visa to the head coach of the Indonesian national football team, Shin Tae Yong, who is a South Korean national. *ant
