Remission 1°C Hyperthermia: A New Integrated Cancer Treatment Alternative

DENPASAR, NusaBali.com - The Central Management of the Indonesian Oncology Association (POI) has expressed its appreciation for the issuance of Government Regulation No. 28 of 2024 (PP Nomor 28 Tahun 2024), which governs the comprehensive and integrated healthcare services provided to the public.

Integrated healthcare refers to form of medical services that combines conventional medical treatment with complimentary traditional health services, either as supplement or in certain cases as an alternative.

This was conveyed by Dr. Demak Lumban Tobing, Sp.PK, Chair of Clinical Pathology Specialists at Dharmais Cancer Hospital, during a teleconference with Mr. Moses Balagopal, Co-Founder & Director of Adipolabs Healthcare (M) Sdn Bhd, and Mr. Isaac R. Joseph, Director & Co-founder of Adipolabs Healthcare Malaysia & Asia Pacific & Chairman of the International Virus Research Alliance (IVRA Malaysia), the main supplier of medical equipment in the ASEAN region, on Wednesday (21/8/2024).

Three cancer experts were present at the meeting, including Dr. Fielda Djuita, Sp.Rad (K) Onk. Rad, Dr. Demak Lumban Tobing, Sp.PK, Subsp.Onk K (K), and Dr. Nurul Fitri, Sp Onk. Rad, all of whom are members of the Indonesian Oncology Association (POI).

The issuance of Government Regulation No. 28 of 2024 marks the possibility of providing integrated medical care, including preventive, curative, rehabilitative, and palliative phases. In Indonesia, the focus has traditionally been on curative services, but the regulation opens up the potential for curative, rehabilitative, and palliative services to be implemented in the future.

Preventive services in integrative cancer care are currently a focus of research and development among oncology specialists and require further study to determine their effectiveness.

During the Zoom meeting, discussions also centered on cancer treatment methods that could reduce the use of painkillers, such as morphine, ensuring that the treatment targets the cancerous area without harming surrounding tissues. The Remission 1°C Hyperthermia Medical Device is believed to effectively support curative, rehabilitative, and palliative care.

Mr. Isaac R. Joseph highlighted the advantages of Remission 1°C Hyperthermia in cancer treatment:

- High Frequency: This high-frequency thermotherapy device delivers deep heat to specific tissues without causing physical discomfort or muscle contractions.

  

- Deep Heat: It helps in melting fat, eliminating body waste by improving lymphatic and blood circulation, stimulating collagen and elastin production, and promoting fibrillar collagen expansion.

- Miracle 1˚C: Low body temperature can pose health risks. Research indicates that a 1˚C drop in body temperature can decrease metabolism and immunity by up to 30%.

The Hyperthermia Center is planned to be the first of its kind in Indonesia, following other advanced countries like Korea, India, Australia, Thailand, Malaysia, and the Philippines.

Dr. Cosphiadi Irawan, Sp.PD-KHOM, an Internal Medicine Specialist with over 11 years of experience and Chair of the Indonesian Oncology Association (POI), emphasized the importance of quality assurance in developing the Hyperthermia Center in Indonesia to ensure it enhances the cancer survival rate in the country.

Dr. Taufik Jamaan, Sp.OG., Chair of the Indonesian Medical Tourism Association and Co-chair of the Indonesia Healthcare Tourism Promotion Board (IHTPB), hopes that the development of the Hyperthermia Center in Indonesia, especially in Jakarta and Bali, will add value to integrated cancer care, particularly in medical tourism. This service in Bali will be monitored by Indonesia's best doctors, collaborating with worldwide partners.

Dr. Widya Murni, MARS, Dipl of IHS, a holistic or integrative functional medicine doctor, stated that cancer patients can be treated by identifying the root causes, such as nutritional deficiencies, hormonal imbalances, the accumulation of free radicals, and environmental toxins. Efforts like liver detoxification, supportive nutritional therapy to improve the immune system, and natural hormone balancing therapy can enhance the quality of life for cancer patients.

Dr. Zawawi Abdullah from Malaysia, an expert in integrative cancer treatment using Hyperthermia, shared insights from his experience and training at Johns Hopkins University. He explained that Circulation Tumor Cell (CTC) tests are crucial for detecting circulating cancer cells, assessing treatment success post-therapy, and determining further treatments, such as stem cell therapy, exosome therapy, or growth hormone therapy.

"With the planned development of the Hyperthermia Center in Indonesia, particularly in Jakarta and Bali, this service will soon be available here," Dr. Zawawi concluded.
