Ministry Preps for Bali Tourism recovery with Reopening in July
DENPASAR, NusaBali.com - The Ministry of Tourism is preparing steps to encourage the recovery of Bali tourism by reopening the world's most popular tourist resort for foreign tourists likely in July 2021.
"We continue to make preparations for the recovery of tourism in Bali. Of course, in response to the COVID-19 case spike in several areas, we continue to monitor the COVID-19 situation in Bali that is currently under control," Tourism and Creative Economy Minister Sandiaga Salahuddin Uno stated here on Thursday.
Uno and Bali Governor Wayan Koster earlier held a meeting to discuss the current situation and preparations for opening Bali’s tourism sector.
Drawing attention to President Joko Widodo's directives, Uno noted that his ministry had continued to prepare steps to revive tourism in Bali by applying health protocols.
"At an early week meeting, the president will monitor in detail the progress in vaccinations and (the implementation of) health protocols as well as Covid-19 handling. If the pre-conditions are achieved, of course, the final decision will be made by him by referring to the readiness of the (travel corridor arrangements) currently being prepared by the foreign affairs minister," he remarked.
Minister Uno commended Bali as being one of the provinces to have most efficiently conducted the Covid-19 vaccination program.
Bali has achieved the highest percentage of Covid-19 vaccination coverage. President Jokowi has given instructions that the government should administer six million vaccine doses for targeted groups in Bali by July this year.
"Hence, as of today, the governor has delivered over 50 percent of the vaccine distribution," Uno remarked.
Moreover, he noted that Bali so far has the highest number of hotels and restaurants with the Cleanliness, Health, Safety and Environment Sustainability (CHSE) certification.
"Starting in July, we will start the CHSE program, and we are targeting Bali to double from last year. Hence, some 1,200 hotels, restaurants, and tourist destinations will be CHSE-certified," the tourism minister stated. *ant
